Margie Lee-Johnson Joins Checkr as VP of People

We’re excited to announce Margie Lee-Johnson has joined Checkr as VP of People, where she will lead all HR functions including people operations and talent acquisition.

As we continue to scale our San Francisco office and establish our new home in Denver, Margie will lead Checkr’s growing hiring needs and further the mission-driven culture that’s been core to Checkr from day one. Her focus will be establishing programs to ensure we are optimizing for meaningful work, hands-on management, and a productive environment to maximize employee and company success.

“What initially drew me to the company was its altruistic view of social responsibility,” said Margie Lee- Johnson. “I’m excited to join a team that approaches diversity in a holistic way, and my goal will be to ensure everyone—regardless of their background—has the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.”

Margie was most recently Senior Director of Global People Operations at Twitch where she built talent programs and helped facilitate global expansion. While at Twitch, Margie helped the company expand to 17 countries. She previously served as the Director of Global People Operations at Ooyala and Manager of Global Employment and Compliance at Netflix, helping to lead unprecedented changes to the company’s parental leave policy, and Senior Manager of HR Center of Excellence at Sony PlayStation, where she drove strategic initiatives around compliance and technology.

“I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve built and the inclusive, mission-driven culture we’ve fostered,” said Daniel Yanisse, CEO and co-founder of Checkr. “Margie will play a critical role in helping us scale our mission impact, better live our core values, and develop our employees to reach their full potential.”

We’re thrilled to welcome Margie to the Checkr team in one of our most important and impactful roles, and we can’t wait to see where she takes us. You can learn more about Margie on LinkedIn.
